Christmas Cocktail for the French Community in Cyprus


Christmas cocktail organised together with the French Community in Cyprus (Association Vivre a Chypre and its Prsesident Mme Florence Fourier) at the headquarters of the Centre of Cultural Heritage. On this ocasion, the worldwide famous Swiss author Françoise Arnould, presented her book Le pli sur le drap bien tendu. With the participation of the solists Ioli Mousteri, Soprano. Marios Ioannou, Tenor. Elena Lamari, Pianist. His Excellency the Ambassador of the French Republic, Mr. Jean-Marc Rives and Mrs Rives honoured with their presence the event.

New Year's Event


Event at the headquarters of the Centre of Cultural Heritage for the staff associates, sponsors and friends of the Centre. The Member of the Parliament Mrs Kaiti Kliridou honoured the event and cut the vasilopitta.

Christmas reception


Christmas reception at the Headquarters of the Centre of Cultural Heritage, corner of Alexander the Great and Alexios Komninos street, Old Lefkosia.With the presence of the Mayor of Nicosia Mr Lellos Dimitriadis, the Ambassador Mr. Konstantinos Leventis and the Ambassadors of Greece, Italy, India, Israel and other personalities.

Signing of the sponsorship agreement between total E&P cyprus and the centre of cultural heritage


On the 17th of December 2013 a Sponsorship Agreement was signed between TOTAL E&P CYPRUS and THE CENTRE OF CULTURAL HERITAGE for the sponsorship of three CCH's projects: Conference Room, EIKONOLOGION and the pulbication of a book on the icons restored at CCH during the last 25 years.

Closing Reception of the 2015 Spring Semester


On the 29th of May, 2015, a closing reception was organised on the roof garden of the Centre of Cultural Heritage for the closure of the Spring Semester's seminars 2015.

Prize of Architectural Heritage awarded to Dr Sophocles Sophocleous


On the 7th of June 2012 the founder of the Centre of Cultural Heritage, Dr Sophocles Sophocleous was awarded the Prize of Architectural Heritage, one of the annual environmental prizes given by the Cyprus Green Party. The ceremony was held at Pallas Cultural Centre in Lefkosia.

On the 4th of April 2011 the founder of the Centre of Cultural Heritage, Dr Sophocles Sophocleous was nominated by the French Minister of Culture, Mr Frédéric MITTERRAND, Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. The ceremony took place on the 18th of October 2011 at the Residence of the French Ambassador, M. Jean-Marc RIVES in Nicosia.

Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Centre of Cultural Heritage at Castelliotissa


Celebrating event at Castelliotissa on the completion of the 10 years of the Centre. Under the auspices of Mrs Photini Papadopoulou and with the presence of personalities from the political, intellectual and cultural world. With the participation of the Cyprus Operatic Scene (Ioli Mousteri, Soprano, Marios Chasapis, Tenor, Elena Lamari, Pianist.

International Day of Children


Event for the International Day of Children. Performance of a children’s theatre from the Eleneion Primary School based on Maria’s Pyliotou childrens’ books. Organised on the terrace of the headquarters of the Centre of Cultural Heritage and under the supervision of Mrs Maria Pyliotou.

Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Centre of Cultural Heritage at Famagusta Gate


Celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Centre of Cultural Heritage. The event was held at Famagousta Gate, Saturday 11 of Decembre 2010 at 7.00 p.m. under the auspices of the Mayor of Nicosia, Mrs Eleni Mavrou, and the University of Nicosia.
The programme was opened by the Choir of the University of Nicosia which interpreted, under the direction of Solon Kladas, the religious chants “Ave Maria”, “Dona nobis pacem”, “O Holy Night” and “Alleluia”.
  
Opening addresses were made by Dr Emilios Solomou, Vice President for Administration, University of Nicosia and Deputy President of the Centre of Cultural Heritage; Dr Marina Tryfonidou on behalf of Dr Andreas Dementriou, Minister of Education and Culture, Dr Erato Kozakou-Markoulli, MInister of Communications and Works and Mrs Aigli Kammitsi on behalf of Mrs Eleni Mavrou, Mayor of Nicosia.
  
After the addresses, the documentary “CENTRE OF CULTURAL HERITAGE. 20 YEARS OF SERVICE (1990 – 2010)” was projected.
  
The Cyprus Operatic Stage presented a programme with extracts from famous operas of G. Verdi, G. Donizetti, G. Bizet, W.A. Mozart, interpreted by the solists Ioli Mousteri (Soprano), Panagiotis Theodorou (Tenor), Marios Andreou (Baritone), Tassos Konnaris (Bass), the Choir of Cyprus Operatic Stage and the Pianist Manolis Neophytou.
A reception was held at the end in the halls of Famagusta Gate.
  
During the reception students of the University of Nicosia presented on their laptops or projected on big screens projects done in the context of their participation in research programmes of the Centre of Cultural Heritage.

Opening of the Exhibition MYTHOLOGIA by the painter Silvia Zwahlen Ragheb


Opening of the exhibition of Silvia Zwahlen Ragheb, entitled MYTHOLOGIA, by the Mayor of Lefkosia, Mr Constantinos Yiorkatzis. The artist exhibited a series of paintings inspired by the ancient Greek mythology.

Poetry Night


On the 15th of January 2016 a Poetry Night was organised with the participation of Kλαίρη Αγγελίδου, Ανδρεανή Ηλιοφώτου, Αλεξάνδρα Γαλανού,Νάσα Παταπίου, Σοφοκλής Σοφοκλέους, Άνδρη Χριστοφίδου-Αντωνιάδου, Βαλεντίνη Αναστασίου, Αθηνά Χαραλαμπίδου, Νίκος Ζανόπουλος, Σάββας Κόκκινος, Ανδρέας Τιμοθέου, Πάμπος Κουζάλης, Λάρα Παρτζίλη. The Violinist Marios Pavlou was accompanying with his compositions the citations of the poets.

The Centre of Cultural Heritage, in the framework of its Educational Seminar Art 101: Ancient Greek Art, organised from the 9th to the 12th of October 2015 an educational trip to Athens and Delphi.

Visit of the Ambassador of Greece


On the 12th of April 2014 his Excellency the Ambassador of Greece, Mr Vasileios Papaioannou visited the Centre of Cultural Heritage, where he was received by the Administrative Council and the Associates of CCH. He has been guided to the headquarters of the foundation and he was informed about the activities and the current research and educational programmes of the Centre.

L'Association du Commerce Franco-Chypriote


Le 17 Septembre 2014 L'Association du Commerce Franco-Chypriote, a organisé sa réunion pour la promotion du commerce entre France et Chypre dans la salle de conférences du Centre du Patrimoine Culturel. Le répas officiel, qui a suivi, a eu lieu sur la terrasse-jardin du Centre. Son Excellence l'Ambassadeur de France, M. Jean-Luc FLORENT a honoré l'événement avec sa présence et participation active dans le dialogue.

Visit of the Ambassador of Spain


On the 18th of March 2016 His Excellency the Ambassador of Spain, Mr Angel Lossada, visited the Centre of Cultural Heritage, where he was received by the Administrative Council and the Associates of CCH. He has been guided to the headquarters of the foundation and he was informed about the activities and the current research and educational programmes of the Centre.

InauguratIon of the Conference Room at the Headquarters of CCH


On the 13th of June 2014 took place the inauguration of the Conference Room at the Headquarters of CCH. This was made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship by TOTAL E&P CYPRUS, which covered all expenses and endowered also the room with high technology equipment. The opening was made by Dr Stelios Nicolaïdes, Director of Hydrocarbons Service at the Ministry of Energy, commerce, Industry and Tourism, and by Dr Marina Solomidou-Ieronymidou, Director of the Department of Antiquities, Ministry of Communications and Works, they both addressed the public and the distinguished guests. Addresses were also done by Mr Jean-Luc PORCHERON, General Manager of TOTAL E&P CYPRUS, Mrs Eléni Loucaïdou, the Deputy-Mayor of Nicosia. Professor Sophocles Sophocleous, Director of CCH, presented an illustrated powerpoint briefing on the history of the neo-classical building housing CCH and the way it has been restored and rehabilitated by him personally and CCH. Followed a documentary on the work produced by CCH for the last 20 years. The event finished by a reception on the roof-garden in the company of the violinist Kyriakos Limniotis, who performed works by J.S. Bach.

Visit of Mrs Androula Vassiliou, former member of the European Commission


On the 14th of June 2016 Mrs Androula Vassiliou, Former Member of the European Commission, visited the Centre of Cultural Heritage, where she was received by Members of the Administrative Council and Associates of CCH. She was guided to the headquarters of the foundation and she was informed about the activities and the current research and educational programmes of the Centre. The meeting was very productive and Mrs Vassiliou suggested proposals based on her pan- european experience on matters of cultural heritage, usefull for CCH.
